Field Hockey Inks Eight

STANFORD, Calif. – The first incoming class under head coach Roz Ellis, Stanford field hockey has unveiled a deep and talented group of eight student-athletes that will join the program in the fall. Scout Butler, Kendall Dowd, Chantal Eiwanger, Daisy Ford, Bella Ganocy, Ella Ganocy, Anna Ghuliani and Tottie Taylor have signed national letters of intent to join the Cardinal program.

"I am thrilled with this 2022 class," said Ellis. "Each of our new players bring unique abilities and differences to our team, ranging from how they process, communicate, problem solve, play and contribute in the classroom. However, their passion to be a part of our squad was the same. We can't wait to get them back on campus in August and continue our growth."

The eight incoming players, listed below in detail, join a Cardinal program on the rise. Three Cardinal student-athletes earned All-America East accolades last season, while the entire roster earned a plethora of academic honors.

Before Stanford

  • Part of England national team system, played for U16 and U18 teams
  • U18 indoor and outdoor national champion in 2020 with Repton, previously won the U16 national title in 2019 (outdoors), with runner-up finishes in 2018 (outdoors) and 2019 (indoors)
  • University of Birmingham Premier League first team in 2020
  • Took the field for the Waterloo Ducks in Belgium in 2021
  • Team captain at U18, U16 and U14 levels, also captained cricket team in 2021
  •  Also competed in cricket and fives

  • Four-year letterwinner in field hockey, also lettered for soccer and lacrosse teams

  • Led St. Stephen's to third place in 2018 conference tournament and fifth place in 2019 and 2021
  • Named to 2020 NFHCA National Academic squad
  • 2021 All-SPC conference selection

  • Has two siblings, Travis and Alex
  • Brother, Travis, is a track and cross country athlete at Rice
  • Has three cousins competing collegiately, two in soccer, Annaugh Madsen (Virginia) and Samara Dowd (VCU), and one in women's lacrosse, Rebecca Lee (George Mason).

Chantal Eiwanger | M/F | 5-7 | North Vancouver, British Columbia | Sentinel Secondary School

Before Stanford

  • Member of Field Hockey Canada's NextGen Program (Junior National Development Squad) since 2020
  • Helped lead Sentinel Secondary's High School Team to the school's best ever result at the British Columbia High School Field Hockey Provincial Championship, finishing in 5th place (2021). Scored 12 out of the team's 13 goals in the tournament in 2021
  • Selected to Field Hockey Canada's U16 Junior National Team for tour against USA's U16 Junior National Team at the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center (Feb. 2020)
  • Two-time Canadian National Champion with BC Provincial Team (2018, 2019)
  • Three-time selection to British Columbia Provincial Teams (2017, 2018, 2019)
  • Member of the West Vancouver Field Hockey Club's Premier Team, which is mostly composed of current and past Canadian National Team and former Division I players (2020-22)
  • West Vancouver team won 2022 Premier League Championship

  • Selected to Great Britain Elite Development Program team in 2022
  • U18 Tier 1 National Hockey Champions in 2019-20. Placed third in U16 School Indoor National Hockey finals.
  • U18 National Indoor finalist in 2018-19 and 2021-22
  • Took second in U16 Club National Indoor Finals in 2019-20
  • Plays club hockey for Harleston Magpies
  • Vice-captain of Framlingham first team in 2021-22.

  • Scored 40 goals with 15 assists as a senior. Had 67 goals in high school career
