AUGUSTA, Ga. – Invitations to the 2022 Augusta National Women's Amateur were sent in the month of January and 71 players to date have been confirmed for the championship, which will take place March 30-April 3 in Augusta, Ga. Seven of the 71 invitees are current or future Cardinal in Megha Ganne, Rachel Heck, Aline Krauter, Brooke Seay, Caroline Sturdza, Angelina Ye and Rose Zhang.
"This team is so special in many ways but having six current players invited to the Augusta National Women's Amateur is a testament to their hard work, commitment and consistent play over a long period of time," Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women's Golf Anne Walker said. "In a short three years, the ANWA has become the pinnacle of women's amateur golf and we are incredibly proud to have such strong representation this year, it speaks volumes about the strength of our roster. We are all excited for April and can't wait to see how they fair, along with incoming teammate Megha Ganne, on the hallowed greens of Augusta National."
Beginning the week prior to the 86th Masters Tournament, the international field will compete across 54 holes of stroke play, with a cut to 30 players taking place after 36 holes. The first two rounds will take place on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club on Wednesday, March 30 and Thursday, March 31. The entire field will then play Augusta National for an official practice round Friday, April 1. The final round will take place at Augusta National on Saturday, April 2 and will feature the competitors who made the cut.
Stanford has had 10 golfers combine for 17 invites in the Augusta National Women's Amateur three-year history. This will be Ye's and Zhang's third appearance, Ganne's, and Heck's second appearance, and is Krauter's second invite but will mark her first appearance, along with Sturdza. Seay was invited for the second time but will play in the Chevron Championship, the LPGA's first major of the year, that same weekend.
