RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - Second-round play was suspended on Monday evening at The Farms Golf Club with Stanford women's golf holding a five-stroke lead over second-place San Jose State. The Cardinal is 2-under for the event, thanks to an opening-round 8-under 280 and three individuals in the top seven.

Stanford had not one but two hole-in-ones on Monday, one each by Rachel Heck and Caroline Sturdza. The Cardinal had not had a hole-in-one since April 8, 2019, a span of almost three years since Aline Krauter's ace at the Silverado Showdown. Heck's hole-in-one came in the first round, on the 141-yard 14th hole. It was her fourth hole of the day. Sturdza's came on the 181-yard fifth hole, her 30th hole of the day and 12th hole of the second round.

Freshman Rose Zhang and sophomore Sadie Englemann are both tied for third at 2-under with one hole each to play in their respective second rounds. Zhang had five birdies in the first round and two more in the second round, while Englemann was helped by an eagle in the first round and four more birdies throughout the day. They both sit just two strokes back of the individual leader, UCLA's Emma Spitz, who is 4-under through two rounds.

The Cardinal will be on the course Tuesday morning to finish the second round before third round play begins.
