BERKELEY, Calif. - No. 3 Stanford opened its weekend in Berkeley at the MPSF Invitational with a victory, downing No. 17 Loyola Marymount 13-8 on Friday afternoon.
The win improves Stanford's perfect record to 11-0 on the year. The Cardinal advances to the winners bracket and will play No. 5 UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 9:20 a.m.

The Cardinal was balanced from beginning to end with 13 of its 16 active players recording either a goal or an assist. Stanford's first eight goals of the afternoon were each scored by a different player, as the Cardinal prioritized a variety of attackers.
Stanford shot out to a 7-2 lead near the end of the opening half, but Loyola Marymount rode the play of Jonny Rimlinger, who scored three straight before the horn to make the score 7-5 at halftime.
The Cardinal was able to keep LMU at arms length the remainder of the game, scoring five goals on the powerplay.
Nolan Krutonog made seven saves between the pipes in the win.
