FRESNO, Calif. - Stanford women's golf and freshman Rachel Heck were dominant on Tuesday, winning the Fresno State Classic in record-setting fashion. Both the Cardinal's 18-under-par and Heck's 16-under-par were Fresno State Classic records in the now 16-year history of the event. The win was both Stanford's and Heck's second of the year (Gunrock Invitational, Del Paso Country Club, March 1-2).
For Heck, her 16-under 200 set a new Stanford 54-hole record, surpassing Mhairi McKay's 12-under 207 at the 1997 Pac-10 Championships (Tacoma Country Club, par 73). Heck is now tied for sixth in school history with her two wins, joining Albane Valenzuela (2016-19) and Hilar Homeyer (1998-01). Andrea Lee owns the school, freshman record with three victories during her 2016-17 freshman campaign.
Heck (-7) entered the day in second place, three strokes off the lead, which was held by Fresno State's Harriet Lynch at 10-under. The freshman from Memphis, Tenn. would proceed to fire off seven birdies and an eagle for a career-best, 9-under 63. The 9-under 63 is tied for the sixth-best round in NCAA Women's Golf history (according to the NCAA record book) on a par-72 course. Heck shot a 6-under 30 on the back nine, highlighted by a birdie-birdie-eagle start on holes 10-12 and a 45-foot putt for birdie on 18 to clinch the tournament.

While Heck stole the show, sophomore Angelina Ye fired off a 5-under 67 to finish the tournament in fourth place. Her 5-under round was tied for her best round-to-par in her brief career, matching her 5-under 66 at last season's Stanford Invitational. Both sophomore Brooke Seay and freshman Sadie Englemann finished tied for 12th to carry the Cardinal to a dominant victory.
Stanford finished the event at 18-under overall with an 846. They defeated second-place Fresno State by 29 strokes. The 18-under was the third-best 54-hole score in school history.
The Cardinal now prepares for the postseason, which begins next Friday with Pac-12 Championships at Stanford Golf Course.
