End of the Ride

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three student-athletes from Stanford women's swimming and diving earned All-America honors to close out the 2021 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, Saturday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Brooke Forde and Allie Raab earned second-team honors by reaching the consolation final of the 200 breast, while Daria Lenz reached the consolation final on the platform at the diving pool.

Stanford finished the meet in ninth place with 159 points – continuing its streak of finishing within the top 10 every single year the NCAA has held a national championship, a streak that began in 1982.

"I'm really proud of our team and coaching staff for representing Stanford to the best of their ability this week," said the Paul A. Violich Director of Women's Swimming Greg Meehan. "It's been a long and challenging year, but we can walk away feeling proud of our performances and staying in the top 10. A special shoutout to our senior class for helping lead us through this year and being incredible caretakers of a legacy."

Forde and Raab notched a 13-15 finish in the 200 breast, as both reached the consolation final in the event. Forde swam 2:07.63 to take 13th, while Raab was 15th in 2:09.89.

On the platform, Lenz was the final diver to reach the consolation final in the event. She finished with a score of 240.15 to place 14th overall. Joining Lenz on the platform was Mia Paulsen (236.60) and Julia Wortman (202.25).
The 400 free relay team – comprised of Emma Wheal, Anya Goeders, Lauren Green and Amalie Fackenthal – took 12th in 3:14.20.

In the 1650 free, Morgan Tankersley (16:15.13) and Isabel Gormley (16:21.90) finished 21st and 29th, respectively.

Hannah Kukurugya was the second alternate for the consolation final of the 200 fly with a time of 1:55.94. She finished the meet in 18th. In the 100 free, the Cardinal was represented by Emma Wheal (48.90), Amalie Fackenthal (49.03), Anya Goeders (49.35) and Janelle Rudolph (49.37). Alex Crisera was 27th in the 200 back in 1:55.40, while Zoe Bartel was 31st in the 200 breast in 2:10.18.
