STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford's 2019-20 season concluded with a third-place finish at the Pac-12 Swimming and Diving Championships in Federal Way, Washington.
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, all remaining winter and spring NCAA competition were cancelled, including the Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. Prior to its third-place finish at the conference championships, Stanford finished 4-1 in dual-meet action.
Maiden Voyage
2019-20 marked the first season under the Goldman Family Director of Men's Swimming Dan Schemmel, who arrived on The Farm in May, 2019. Schemmel spent the previous three season as head coach of both the men's and women's programs at Hawai'i. Schemmel, the sixth head coach in program history, succeeded Ted Knapp, who spent a combined 39 seasons at Stanford as a student-athlete, assistant coach, associate head coach and Goldman Family Director of Men's Swimming from 2012-19.
Diver of the Meet
Conor Casey won both of his events at the Pac-12 Diving Championships – the 1-meter (407.35) and the 3-meter (442.05) springboards. Casey was named Diver of the Meet, becoming the first Cardinal since Pac-12 All-Century selection Kristian Ipsen (2015) to win both the 1-meter and 3-meter conference crowns.

Shoults Shines Again
Grant Shoults made it three-for-three in the Pac-12 500-yard freestyle championship, returning from an injury which sidelined him for 2018-19 to win the event with a time of 4:12.45. Shoults holds the program record time in the event at 4:10.02 and was the only Stanford student-athlete to earn three All-America nods.

Thirteen Named All-America
Thirteen swimmers and divers were named All-America by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). All relays achieving "A" standards and individuals selected to the NCAA Championships earned All-America status.
