Seven Academic Honorees

STANFORD, Calif. - Seven Stanford women's lacrosse players earned academic awards from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) on Wednesday.

Areta Buness (biology), Jacie Lemos (human biology), Kira Lopes (management science and engineering), Julia Massaro (management science and engineering), Kyra Pelton (environmental systems engineering), Monika Sivilli (science, technology and society) and Mikaela Watson (product design) were all recognized by the IWLCA.

To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.

Earlier this summer, Stanford introduced new head coach Danielle Spencer. An introductory Q&A can be found here, discussing her coaching and recruiting philosophies, a message to alumni and Stanford's best assets.

Spencer and her staff inherit a Stanford program that finished 13-6 and reached the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year. The Cardinal returns its top four scorers, as well as nine of 11 starters and its starting goalkeeper.
