STANFORD, Calif. – Senior Joanna Langner has received a Firestone Medal for Excellence in Undergraduate Research that recognizes the top 10 percent of all honors theses in social sciences, natural sciences, engineering and applied sciences.
A human biology major from Lafayette, California, Langner researched hip injuries sustained in synchronized swimming and water polo.
Langner has competed for Stanford the last four years and was team captain this season. She was a member of the 2016 Collegiate National champion squad, finishing fourth in team free routine. The Cardinal claimed runner-up each of the last three years and Langner earned silver in team free in 2018 and 2019.
Langner will coterm in Community Health and Prevention Research next year and has applied to medical school.
