EAST LANSING, Michigan – No. 4 Stanford clinched its spot in the NCAA Championships from May 17-22 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas by virtue of its fourth-place finish at the East Lansing Regional on Wednesday. The Cardinal shot a 14-over 878 over three rounds, including a 2-over 290 on each Tuesday and Wednesday to hold steady above the cut line.

"We didn't have anyone go low this week but we also didn't have anyone go high," Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women's Golf Anne Walker said. "Our five players finished within four shots of each other and that's a huge compliment to the depth of our group. Aline Krauter was fantastic, especially given this was her first experience at NCAA Regionals. Albane (Valenzuela) and Andrea (lee) fought through to the end, and although both wanted to play better, they never gave up. Mika (Liu) and Ziyi (Wang) were also major players and without them we wouldn't be moving on. They hammed and egged a three-day score under par and that was the difference for us."

Ziyi Wang led the Cardinal on Wednesday, shooting a 2-under 70 to finish 9-over for the tournament. She birdied four holes on the day against just two bogeys. Junior Albane Valenzuela and freshman Aline Krauther paced the Cardinal during the week, as they both finished 5-over for the tournament. Valenzuela shot an even-par 72 on Wednesday, totaling four birdies and four bogeys.

Junior Andrea Lee finished 6-over for the tournament after a 2-over 74 on Wednesday. Mika Liu led the Cardinal through the first two rounds, but did not factor into Wednesday's team score.

The Cardinal will now head to the NCAA Championship May 17-22 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas.  All 24 teams and individuals will play 18 holes on each of the first three days (54 holes total). The field will be cut to 15 teams for the final round of stroke play on Monday, May 20. After four rounds of stroke play, the individual medalist will be awarded and the top eight teams will advance to match play with the quarterfinals and semifinals taking place on Tuesday, May 21 and the national championship match on Wednesday, May 22.
