NEWPORT, R.I. - Stanford sailing earned its highest finish in four years with a third-place showing at the LaserPerformance Team Race National Championships over the weekend.

This was the first medal for Stanford at the team race nationals since back-to-back third-place finishes in 2014-15.

Stanford finished with a 17-8 record overall, only bettered by Yale, which won with a record of 21-4, and Georgetown, which finished at 20-5.

Skippers for Stanford included Jacob Rosenberg, Jack Parkin and Romain Screve, and the crews included Meg Gerli, Camille White, Madeline Bubb, Kathryn Booker, Taylor Kirkpatrick, Victoria Thompson, Sammy Pickell and Mathew Hogan.

The Cardinal went 12-3 in round robin, which was tied for second with Georgetown (Yale was 14-1). Entering the second round, Stanford's only losses were to Dartmouth and the Hoyas and Bulldogs. Those four schools would go on to make the Final Four.

After the Cardinal reached the finals with a 4-3 record in Round 2, they lost to Yale and Georgetown, but defeated Dartmouth in the Final Four to clinch the bronze medal. The Big Green finished fourth at 15-10 overall.

Earlier in the week at the national championship regattas, the Stanford women finished 11th. A full recap is here.

The National Championships continue with the Coed championship on Tuesday, lasting for four days.
