STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford's Brody Malone has been named the MPSF Gymnast of the Week and College Gymnastics Association Rookie of the Week after capturing the all-around title at California on Sunday night. Malone, who recorded the second-highest all-around score in the nation at 84.550, helped the Cardinal post a season-best 417.800 team score.

The conference selection is the first of Malone's career, and is the second for Stanford this season after senior Grant Breckenridge took home the honors on January 15. More notably, Malone is the first freshman in five years to be named MPSF Gymnast of the Week (Colin Van Wicklen-Oklahoma; March 18, 2014). The Rookie of the Week selection is the first for the Cardinal this year.
In addition to the all-around title, Malone won the high bar with a career-best 14.250. He would also add second-place finishes in the parallel bars (14.150) and pommel horse (13.600), and claimed third in the floor exercise (14.500) and still rings (13.650). Rounding out his night, Malone captured fourth overall in vault (14.400) behind three of the best vaults this year from his Cardinal teammates.
Tonight's televised @StanfordMGym - @CalMGym meet served as a great platform for @brody1700 (2017 U.S. Junior champ) to reintroduce himself to the gymnastics world. His 84.55 AA is the #2 #NCAAMGym score this season. Yes. he is a freshman!
