SACRAMENTO – The 12th-ranked Stanford women's gymnastics team earned its second consecutive victory by defeating Sacramento State and Seattle Pacific in a tri-meet on Friday night at The Nest.
Coming off a season-opening win last Sunday at Sacramento State against the Hornets, San Jose State and UC Davis, the Cardinal claimed first in every routine in the quick turnaround.
"We showed a lot of fight early in the meet, but we're a much better team than we showed," said head coach Tabitha Yim. "We're still young and it was a good learning experience. We're going to go back to work and prepare for our first conference meet."
After sweeping all four events and the all-around last week, sophomore Kyla Bryant picked up where she left off. She prevailed on the uneven bars (9.850) and in all-around (39.175), finished second on the balance beam (9.800) and third on vault (9.800).

"I thought Taryn handled the pressure really well," Yim said. "Kaylee (Cole) gave us a strong start in the first two events, and Morgan had the best routine of the night."
Stanford starts its Pac-12 season on Jan. 21 at Cal in a 6 p.m. meet. The competition will be televised by Pac-12 Network.
The first of four home meets for the Cardinal is Jan. 27 against top-ranked UCLA in Maples Pavilion at 4 p.m. The first 500 fans will receive free Stanford women's gymnastics t-shirts. Following the meet, Cardinal players will sign autographs and free posters will be distributed.
