STANFORD, Calif. – Cal secured its fifth straight series win over Stanford with a 3-0 decision, Saturday, at Smith Family Stadium.
For the second straight game, the Cardinal (22-25, 2-15 Pac-12) was shut out by the Bears (32-13, 6-10 Pac-12). Cal scored three runs on six hits, while Stanford tallied just three hits.
Freshman pitcher Maddy Dwyer made her first appearance in the circle since April 8 at UCLA. She took the loss falling to 11-8 overall. She allowed two runs on two hits with three strikeouts in 2.1 innings pitched. Sophomore Nikki Bauer entered the game in the third inning in relief.
Cal's Kamalani Dung earned the win, improving to 18-3 on the year, while Zoe Conley picked up her seventh save of the season.
Sophomore Kristina Inouye had Stanford's first hit of the game, a single up the middle in the top of the first. Senior Lauren Wegner singled in the second and sophomore Hannah Howell singled through the left side in the sixth inning. Stanford stranded five base runners in the game.

Cal got on the scoreboard in the top of the second, getting an RBI double to left centerfield by freshman designated player Cameron Kondo.
The Bears tacked on another run in the top of the third as first baseman Kobie Pettis hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Jazmyn Jackson.
Cal scored its final run of the game in the fifth inning. Second baseman Lindsay Rood led off with a triple down the left line. She scored as Bradie Fillmore grounded out to third base.
The series finale between the Cardinal and Bears is set for Sunday at 1 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks.
