STANFORD, Calif. – No. 4 Stanford men's tennis hosts No. 36 Oregon on Friday at 2 p.m. PT and Washington on Saturday at 3 p.m. PT at Taube Family Tennis Stadium in its final two matches of the regular season.
Friday's match will serve as a doubleheader with the women's tennis team, which faces No. 42 California at 11 a.m. PT. Both Friday matches will be televised live on Pac-12 Networks. Saturday's match will be streamed live on GoStanford.com.
The Cardinal will honor its two senior captains prior to Saturday's match, celebrating the accomplishments of Tom Fawcett and David Wilczynski.
Both Fawcett and Wilczynski enter their final regular-season home matches among Stanford's all-time leaders in career dual victories. Fawcett ranks 27th in school history with 52, while Wilczynski is 33rd on the Cardinal's career dual wins list with 42.
Fawcett is ranked No. 8 in the latest Oracle/ITA collegiate poll. He is 19-4 overall on the season with a 10-3 mark in dual action, playing all his matches at No. 1 singles. Fawcett has played 14 matches against nationally-ranked opponents this season, with nine wins. In doubles, the senior teams with freshman Axel Geller to form one of the nation's top doubles teams. At 13-5 on the year, the Cardinal duo is ranked No. 24 in the latest national poll.
The 2017 Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year and the 2015 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, Fawcett has enjoyed a decorated Cardinal career. He reached the semifinal round of the NCAA Singles Championships as a junior last year, earning ITA All-America honors. Fawcett advanced to the round of 16 of the NCAA Singles Championships his sophomore season. A two-time First Team All-Pac-12 selection, Fawcett also excels in the classroom with conference all-academic laurels each of the last two seasons.
Wilczynski has won 71 games in his standout career on The Farm. After posting 18 wins his junior season, he has already won 15 this season. The senior captured the tournament singles title at the UCSB Classic this past fall. Wilczynski has earned All-Pac-12 honors in each of his first three seasons. The science, technology and society major has also been recognized with conference all-academic accolades during his Stanford career.
Among his eight dual victories this season are three clinchers. He enters Friday on a three-match winning streak that includes the clinching point in a victory over No. 32 Utah two weeks ago. Wilczynski owns 12 dual wins on the doubles side as well, primarily playing with Timothy Sah.
The standout senior tandem has helped guide Stanford to its best start in 16 seasons. The Cardinal is 18-2 overall with a 5-1 mark in Pac-12 play. Stanford is playing for a share of the conference regular-season title, needing two wins this week and a loss by UCLA (7-0) to Utah on Friday.
The Cardinal has already faced Oregon this season, defeating the Ducks, 4-0, on ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Berkeley on Jan. 28. Stanford owns a 32-3 all-time record against Oregon and a 41-3 all-time mark against Washington.
Following this week's matches, Stanford will compete in the Pac-12 Championships in Ojai, California, April 25-28.
