Blanking The Gauchos

STANFORD, Calif. - No. 28 Stanford extended its season-best winning streak to five, blanking UC Santa Barbara 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

The Cardinal (9-3, 3-0 Pac-12), which is navigating through a stretch of four matches to be played over seven days, also secured its fifth shutout of the season.

Stanford claimed the doubles point for a 1-0 lead thanks to victories at the Nos. 1 and 3 spots.

Emma Higuchi cruised past Lise Sentenac 6-0, 6-0 on court six, giving Stanford a 2-0 advantage.

Caroline Lampl followed with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Amanda Atanasson at the No. 3 position for a 3-0 cushion.

Michaela Gordon provided the clincher with a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Palina Dubavets at the top spot of the lineup.

Stanford received a boost from the return of All-American Melissa Lord, who played her first match of the spring after being sidelined with an injury. Lord teamed up with Janice Shin for a victory in doubles and prevailed 6-3, 6-2 in singles at the No. 2 spot.

Stanford has now won 44 of its last 47 contests at Taube Family Tennis Stadium dating back to 2015.

After closing out a nine-match homestand, the Cardinal wraps up the regular season with four of its final six matches on the road. That stretch begins Friday afternoon at No. 41 Arizona State.
