STANFORD, Calif. – No. 3 Stanford men's tennis defeated Army, 7-0, to complete the Sunday doubleheader sweep at Taube Family Tennis Stadium. Earlier in the day, the Cardinal beat Air Force, 4-0.
The Cardinal captured the doubles point with a pair of 6-1 wins by Sameer Kumar and Michael Genender at No. 1 and Eric Fomba and Sam Turchetta at No. 3.
Senior David Wilczynski surrendered just two games en route to a straight-set win at No. 3 to give Stanford its second point of the match.
Senior Tom Fawcett, ranked No. 11, picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at the top spot. Moments later, freshman Axel Geller, ranked No. 36, clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at the No. 2 spot.
With the victory, Stanford improved to 14-1 on the season, with its lone setback coming to top-ranked Wake Forest in the semifinals of the ITA National Indoor Championships.
Stanford will return to action March 27 against Pacific at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
