STANFORD, Calif. – Senior Tarek Abdelghany and junior Abrahm DeVine were named Pac-12 Diver and Swimmer of the Week, respectively, as announced Tuesday by the conference.
It is the third Pac-12 Diver of the Week honor for Abdelghany, who registered first and second-place finishes during Stanford's 151-149 upset win over No. 1 California on Saturday. Abdelghany (342.30) finished second in the 3-meter before winning the 1-meter with a score of 349.05. Abdelghany was named Pac-12 Diver of the Week on Jan. 17 and Jan. 24 after helping Stanford register wins over Pacific, Arizona and Arizona State.
DeVine won all three individual events he swam in Saturday's win over California. DeVine completed the backstroke double with wins in the 100-yard backstroke (46.89) and 200-yard backstroke (1:42.25) before claiming the 200-yard individual medley (1:45.81) by over two seconds. It is the second Pac-12 Swimmer of the Week honor for DeVine, who won the award on Jan. 17.
Stanford's divers are in action this week at the Pac-12 Diving Championships, starting with the 1-meter springboard on Wednesday. The swimming portion of the meet takes place Feb. 28 – March 3. The Cardinal finished the regular season 6-0 after its win over Cal, ending the season atop the CSCAA top-25 poll.
