CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - Stanford blanked Weber State 6-0 on Monday afternoon to close out the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, wrapping up the tournament with four wins in five games.
The Cardinal (6-5) received another dominating performance in the circle from Maddy Dwyer, who allowed only one hit while striking out two over six innings. Dwyer, who also hurled a two-hit shutout against Grand Canyon on Saturday, carried a perfect game through five innings and did not walk a batter.
Lauren Wegner finished 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI singles, the first of which ignited a three-spot in the top of the second inning.
Stanford increased its lead to 4-0 in the third inning following an RBI double from Kristina Inouye. Wegner's second RBI single of the day later plated Inouye for a 5-0 lead.
Alyssa Horeczko's RBI single in the fifth inning capped the scoring for Stanford, which pounded out 11 hits.
The Cardinal also took advantage of five errors from Weber State.
Dwyer picked up her fourth win of the season in the circle before Kiana Pancino struck out two in one inning of relief.
Stanford next travels to Sacramento State on Thursday, Feb. 22, for a doubleheader starting at noon.
