Wind Shortens Prestige

LA QUINTA, Calif. – The first round of The Prestige at PGA West Resort was cancelled on Monday due to high winds. Stanford and U.C. Davis are co-hosting the 15-team event at the Greg Norman Course. It marks the first time in the 18-year history of the event that a round has been lost.

"It's disappointing," said Knowles Director of Golf Conrad Ray. "But you never know with the weather. The greens are so fast and pure that the wind gusts up to 40-miles-per-hour have made putting impossible. We're excited to resume play tomorrow and post some good numbers."

Teh tournament has been shortened to 36 holes, with 18 played Tuesday and the final round on Wednesday. First-round pairings will remain the same.
