STANFORD, Calif. – No. 12 Stanford heads across the Bay to compete in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend event this Sunday and Monday at the Hellman Tennis Complex in Berkeley, Calif.
The Cardinal, ranked No. 12 in the latest Oracle/ITA team rankings, is part of the four-team field in the Berkeley site that also includes No. 19 California, No. 22 Tulane and Oregon (receiving votes).
Berkeley is one of 15 sites around the nation hosting an ITA Kick-Off Weekend event. Matches are also being hosted by USC, North Carolina, Ohio State, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Virginia, Wake Forest, TCU, Baylor, Texas A&M, Texas and UCLA.

Stanford senior Tom Fawcett is 9-1 so far this season, joining fellow senior David Wilczynski and sophomore William Genesen with a team-best nine victories in singles action so far this season.
The Cardinal is coming off a 7-0 victory over George Washington last Saturday with freshman Axel Geller winning at the top spot and Wilczynski earning the victory at No. 2 singles. Fawcett did not compete in the win over the Colonials.
Stanford faced Oregon twice last year, splitting the two meetings. The Cardinal dropped a 4-3 decision to the Ducks in Eugene, Oregon, during the regular season and earned a 4-2 win against Oregon in the Pac-12 Championships in Ojai, California. Fawcett earned his 40th career dual victory in the conference tournament win over the Ducks last season. He enters this weekend's matches with 42 career dual victories.
Stanford owns a 31-3 all-time record against Oregon, with a 92-23 all-time mark against California and a 2-0 all-time record against Tulane. The Cardinal and the Green Wave last met during the 2003 season.
Following this weekend's event, Stanford will host its first Pac-12 dual matches next weekend, welcoming No. 5 USC and No. 6 UCLA to Taube Family Tennis Center next Friday and Sunday, respectively.
