STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 13 Stanford men's tennis team opened its spring dual season at Taube Family Tennis Center with a 7-0 victory over George Washington Saturday afternoon.
George Washington, with a limited roster due to injury, was forced to forfeit a doubles match. The Cardinal sealed the doubles point with a 6-3 victory from the freshmen duo of Axel Geller and Sam Turchetta.
Stanford added a second point as George Washington forfeited the No. 6 singles match.
The Cardinal built a 3-0 lead as Turchetta downed GW's Amlan Sahoo in straight sets at No. 5. Moments later, sophomore Jack Barber provided the match clincher with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Jakub Behun at the four spot.
The Cardinal, which also received wins from Geller, David Wilczynski and Fomba, did not drop a set in the season-opening dual win.
Stanford will head to Berkeley, California, to take part in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The Cardinal will face Oregon next Sunday.
