SAN FRANCISCO – For the second consecutive year, UCLA was picked to win the 2018 Pac-12 women's gymnastics conference crown in a preseason poll of league coaches, it was announced Thursday.
The Bruins received 47 points and five first place votes, with Utah garnering 44 points and three first place votes. Cal collected 30 votes, followed by Washington with 28. Stanford and Oregon State tied for fifth with 27, while Arizona garnered 12 votes and Arizona State 9.
The Cardinal, under the leadership of new head coach Tabitha Yim, begins the season on Jan. 8 by hosting Cal, San Jose State, Sacramento State and UC Davis in the NorCal Classic. Competition starts at 6 p.m. PT in Maples Pavilion and admission is free.
Stanford is led by senior Elizabeth Price, a six-time All-American and the 2016 Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year.
