STANFORD, Calif. - Junior punter and kickoff specialist Jake Bailey was named Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.
Bailey had a career night to help lead Stanford to a decisive 38-20 win over No. 9 Notre Dame. He punted seven times for an average of 50.4 yards per punt, including a career-high five punts over 50 yards, three of which were pinned inside the 20 and a career-long 65-yard punt.
In addition, five of his seven kickoffs were touchbacks, and the Irish averaged just 15.0 yards on their two kick returns.
Bailey's punts and kickoffs flipped field position throughout the night as Notre Dame's average drive start was at its own 26-yard line.
For the year, Bailey has a career-high average of 45.1 yards per punt, which leads the Pac-12, ranks eighth in the nation and is currently the second-best mark in school history. The Solana Beach, California, native is also currently Stanford's all-time leader with a career average of 43.4 yards per punt.

Bailey is the first Cardinal punter to win the weekly conference honor since Daniel Zychlinski on Nov. 19, 2012.
No. 14 Stanford won the Pac-12 North for the fourth time in seven years under head coach David Shaw, and will take on No. 11 USC in the Pac-12 Championship Game on Friday at 5 p.m. PT. ESPN will televise the game.
