ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Sophomore Andrea Lee and senior Shannon Aubert sparked Stanford to a tie for fifth on Monday after two rounds of the season-opening Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational hosted by the University of New Mexico on its Championship Course.
Lee, the 2017 PING/WGCA Freshman of the Year, posted scores of 73-68 to finish at 3-under 141 and is tied for third individually, seven strokes behind leader Bianca Pagdanganan of Arizona (67-67). Aubert shot 72-72 and is tied for 15th at even par 144.
Lee caught fire on the back nine of the second round, carding five birdies and recorded a 4-under 32.
Playing 36 holes, the Cardinal improved 13 strokes in the second round and finished the day at 5-over 581 (297-284). Oklahoma State leads at 1-under 575 (291-284).
Four of five Stanford players lowered their first round score in the afternoon. Freshman Mika Liu (74-72, 146) is tied for 28th, sophomore Ziyi Wang (78-72, 150) is tied for 61st, and junior Sierra Kersten (79-75, 154) is tied for 85th.
