One More For The Crown

OJAI, Calif. - No. 6 Stanford breezed past No. 40 Oregon 4-0 on Friday afternoon in the semifinal round of the Pac-12 Championships.

Winners of five straight, Stanford (20-2, 10-0 Pac-12) punched its ticket to Saturday's final, where the Cardinal will face off against No. 16 California for the second consecutive weekend. The Cardinal beat the Golden Bears 4-3 in Berkeley seven days ago to capture the regular-season crown.

Stanford, which is attempting to repeat as Pac-12 champions, captured the doubles point for a 1-0 lead, booking victories at the bottom two spots.

Caroline Lampl then delivered a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Julie Eshet at the No. 4 position to extend Stanford's lead to 2-0.

Emma Higuchi notched her team-best 30th win of the season, defeating Marlou Kluiving 6-1, 6-2 on court six for a 3-0 advantage.

Taylor Davidson provided her second clincher in as many matches, taking down Nia Rose 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 3 spot.

Oregon (14-10, 6-4 Pac-12) had won three in a row entering Friday's match.

Stanford will be making its 36th consecutive postseason appearance when first round competition gets underway at campus sites in two weeks. The Cardinal is also a likely candidate to host the opening weekend at Taube Family Tennis Stadium on May 12-14.
