KONA, Hawaii - Sixth-ranked Stanford opened the spring season with a sixth-place finish at the Amer Ari Invitational contested at the Waikoloa Kings' Course.
The three-day event wrapped up Saturday as the Cardinal went 21-under after rounds of 278-282-283 on the par-72, 7,074-yard track.
Texas Tech (-44) topped the 21-team field, which featured eight top-25 programs.
Maverick McNealy (68-66-68) went under par in each of his three rounds for a 14-under that yielded a fourth-place finish. Three players tied for medalist honors at 16-under.
Tying for seventh was Viraat Badhwar (69-67-70), and Brandon Wu (71-75-71) was 56th at 1-over, an improvement of 12 spots through 36 holes.
Franklin Huang (71-74-74) was 3-over and David Snyder (70-76-75) signed off at 5-over. Chris Meyers (75-73-80) was 12-over.
Stanford will co-host The Prestige at PGA West (Feb. 20-22) contested in La Quinta, California.
