STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford was one of 87 division I programs to receiver Academic All-America status from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, as announced Wednesday by the organization.
The award recognizes teams that achieved a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2016 Fall Semester, with a record 638 CSCAA-affiliated programs being honored. The Cardinal, which currently sits at No. 8 in CSCAA's most recent coaches poll, owns the fourth-highest team grade-point average of any division I team with a 3.52 clip.

"Our coaches understand that the essence of intercollegiate athletics is the experience each student-athlete receives, and an emphasis on academics reflects what coaches feel is most important," said CSCAA Executive Director Joel Shinofield.
Last season, 21 Stanford swimmers and divers earned academic recognition from the Pac-12 Conference, while 16 were selected CSCAA Scholar All-Americans, including Tarek Abdelghany, Bradley Christensen, Abrahm DeVine, Ryan Dudzinski, Ted Miclau, Sam Perry, Maxwell Williamson, Jimmy Yoder and Jack Walsh.
