STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford Men's Gymnastics will add three to its 2016 incoming class with Ben LeRoy (Gilbert AZ, Aspire Gymnastics), Ben Swartout (Katy TX, Champions Gymanstics) and Eric Vincent (Palo Alto, Stanford Boy's Gymnastics) joining an already impressive group of incoming freshmen.
"Ben Swartout shows great potential on rings, floor exercise and vault. He's strong and quick," said coach Thom Glielmi. "We are looking for him to push the line-up on those events, and I would not be surprised if he breaks into the line up on rings"
Eric Vincent, a local product and member of the Stanford Boy's Gymnastics club will join former club-mate, RS Junior Drew Willoughby on the team. "Eric is probably the most athletic of the entire class and his progress over the past few years has been impressive. I anticipate Eric contributing on floor exercise, vault and horizontal bar. If its not during his freshman year, I am sure it will be soon," said coach Glielmi.
"Ben LeRoy is an interesting add. He has a significant repertoire of skills on both pommels and floor – one of the best in the entire class. Pending his fitness level, which I anticipate improving prior to the fall start date, he could definitely challenge the lineup on those events," Glielmi added.
Swartout, LeRoy and Vincent will join fellow freshman David Jessen, Joey Ringer, Bailey Perez, and Conner Lewis.
Incoming freshmen David Jessen will see teammate Akash Modi in Rio. Jessen will compete for Czech Republic at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
