Six Honored for Academics

PRINCETON, N.J. – Six members of the 2016 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) women's lightweight rowing champion Stanford program were recognized on the IRA All-Academic Team, the Board of Stewards announced.
 
Senior Brittany Presten, who is in the middle of her co-term in mechanical engineering at Stanford where she will earn her masters next year, has been honored by the IRA for the third year in a row.
 
Presten was joined by juniors and two-time IRA All-Academic honorees Christine Cavallo (international relations) and Sarah Hirshorn (public policy), and sophomores Shea Cours (undeclared), Hannah Levy (undeclared) and Taylor Harris (undeclared).
 
Cours (coxswain), Presten (six seat), Cavallo (four seat) and Hirshhorn (three seat) were each members of the varsity eight that completed the season undefeated and captured the varsity eight title at the IRA Championships.
 
To be eligible for recognition, a student-athlete must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.35 or higher, completed one full year at their institution, be an institutional letter winner and competed at the 2016 IRA National Championship Regatta.
 
In all, 336 student-athletes from 37 member institutions were recognized.
