STANFORD, Calif. – Fresh of its second consecutive Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship, the Stanford lightweight rowing program saw three of its members named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Pocock Lightweight All-America Team.
Senior Brittany Presten, sophomore Shea Cours and freshman Rena White were each recognized on CRCA’s nine-member All-America squad.
All three were part of Stanford’s varsity eight that captured its sixth IRA title in the past seven years at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, New Jersey, earlier this month.
Presten, a biomechanical engineering major, earned her second CRCA All-America selection in 2016. She also garnered All-America honors as a sophomore. A three-time IRA champion, Presten rowed in the six seat of the Cardinal’s varsity eight this season.
As a freshman, White served as the stroke of the varsity eight. Last week, the psychology major received the Block “S” Award, recognizing the Outstanding Female Freshman, at the Stanford Athletic Board Awards.
Cours, who has not yet declared a major, was the coxswain of the varsity eight this past season after serving as the coxswain of the varsity four that won the 2015 IRA championship her freshman season.
The trio bring Stanford’s total number of CRCA All-America selections to 25 since 2007.
The Cardinal completed its second consecutive IRA Championship season on Mercer Lake in New Jersey June 5. Stanford’s varsity eight is undefeated over the last two competitive seasons.
