KISSIMMEE, Fla.-- The second-ranked Stanford women's golf team moved up two places Monday in the ANNIKA Intercollegiate Presented by 3M at Reunion Resort.
After posting a 1-over-par team score of 289 in Sunday's first round, the Cardinal combined for a 1-under 287 and is in seventh place in the talented 12-team tournament at even-par 576.
USC leads at 547. The final round will be played on Tuesday.
"We are playing consistent,steady golf," said Anne Walker,the Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women's Golf. "The putts havent been falling for us the way we would like them to, but we have certainly had our share of opportunities. Hopefully tomorrow we will see a few fall early and that will ignite a low round."
Stanford received sub-par rounds from senior Lauren Kim and sophomore Shannon Aubert, both shooting 1-under-par 71s. Kim had two birdies and one bogey, the latter coming on her first hole, the par-4 10th. She played the final 17 holes in 2-under and is 11th individually at 4-under 140.
Aubert rebounded from a double-bogey on the par-4 18th with consecutive birdies at the par-5 first, par-4 second and par-3 third holes and shot 2-under on the front nine. She is tied for 29th at 1-over 145.
Senior Mariah Stackhouse had two birdies and two bogeys during an even-par round of 72. She shot 1-under on her second nine and is tied for 12th at 3-under 141.
Junior Casey Danielson recorded four birdies during a round of 73 and is 48th at 6-over 150. Junior Quirine Eijkenboom made two birdies on the back nine and shot a 1-under 35. She finished with a 74 and is tied for 52nd at 8-over 152.
The ANNIKA Intercollegiate is one of four fall events for Stanford, the defending national champion. The Cardinal opened its season by winning the Branch Law Firm Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
