The 1,500-Meter Freestyle World Record Chart
Katie Ledecky, who signed a National Letter of Intent with Stanford and plans to attend the University following the 2016 Olympics, owns the top five times ever in the 1,500-meter freestyle. No other woman in the history of the world has come within 13 seconds of her 15:25.48 set Tuesday at the FINA World Championships. Stanford head coach Greg Meehan said, “Out of all of [Ledecky’s world records], this one is my favorite (so far),” on his Instagram account.

Oceans
Historically, according to the National Ocean Service, there are four oceans: Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, and Artic. But, now, most countries -- including the United States -- recognize the Southern (Antarctic) as the fifth ocean. No word on if Ledecky plans to swim the length of any of them.
Backstreet Boys
The famous five-member boy band consisted of Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, Kevin Richardson, A.J. McLean and Howie Dorough. They released their first album, which sold 10 million copies, on May 6, 1996. Ledecky was born March 17, 1997.
Teams in MLB Divisions
Every Major League Baseball division features five teams after the Houston Astros (managed by Stanford grad A.J. Hinch) switched over to the American League. Ledecky’s local team, the Washington Nationals, invited the 2012 Olympic gold medalist to throw out the first pitch on multiple occasions.
Basketball Starters
Five players can start for a basketball team - traditionally a point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward and center. At 5-11, Ledecky stands just one inch shorter than NBA All-Stars Chris Paul and Kyle Lowry. Get Stanford head coach Tara VanDerveer on the line…
