STANFORD, Calif. - No. 10 Stanford blanked No. 51 Washington 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
Picking up its fourth straight win, Stanford (13-4, 6-2 Pac-12) also notched its fourth shutout of the season and first since routing Utah 7-0 on March 6.
Ellen Tsay clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the No. 5 position, representing her 99th career singles win. She also teamed with Caroline Doyle for an 8-5 doubles triumph at the No. 2 spot to give the Cardinal a 1-0 lead.
The results capped a fitting end to Senior Day for Tsay, a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic First Team selection and biology major. Tsay, a member of Stanford’s 2013 NCAA championship team, has claimed two singles titles and five doubles crowns during her impressive career on The Farm.
Leading 1-0, Carol Zhao’s 6-0, 6-0 victory over Elianne Douglas-Miron at the top spot of the lineup. Krista Hardebeck followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win on court four against Julija Lukac for a 3-0 advantage.
Tsay made it official, as Taylor Davidson, Doyle and Lindsey Kostas contributed victories to complete the shutout.
Stanford’s four-match homestand continues next weekend, hosting Washington State on Saturday (10 a.m. PT) and Pepperdine on Sunday (12 p.m. PT).
