STANFORD, Calif.- No. 5 Stanford quickly dispatched of No. 29 Arizona 7-0 on Friday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium to open a four-match homestand.
The Cardinal (12-0, 4-0 Pac-12) has posted four consecutive shutouts and won 17 matches in a row dating back to last year’s NCAA championship run.
Arizona (14-2, 3-1 Pac-12) saw its seven-match winning streak come to an end.
In a match televised by Pac-12 Networks, Stanford’s season-long dominance in both singles and doubles was on full display.
The Cardinal locked up the doubles point for a 1-0 lead, surrendering only six games combined on the three courts.
Following victories from Ellen Tsay (6-1, 6-0) on court five and Taylor Davidson (6-2, 6-0) on court four, Caroline Doyle breezed past Laura Oldham at the No. 6 position for her third clincher of the year.
Stanford is scheduled to host No. 19 Arizona State on Saturday at 12 p.m. With rain in the forecast, stay tuned to www.gostanford.com and @StanfordWTennis for updates.
