GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Stanford synchronized swimming team defeated Florida in the elements and figures competitions, Sunday, in Gainesville, Fla.
Cardinal freshman Marisa Tashima won the A Elements with an 81.208. Stanford also claimed the next four spots as junior Megan Hansley was the runner-up with an 80.864. Freshman Isabella Park (80.447) took third, while sophomore Evelyna Wang (79.880) was fourth and senior Leigh Haldeman was fifth (78.671).
Florida’s Daniela De Faria was sixth in the A Elements with a score of 77.932. Stanford sophomore Mina Shah finished seventh with a 76.437, while Cardinal sophomore Carolyn Morrice was eighth with a 76.261.
Stanford did not compete in the B or C Figures. Florida’s Melanie Watkins won the B Figures with a 70.500, while the Gators’ Amelia Schlak won the C Figures with a 67.323.
Stanford returns to The Farm next week to play host to the University of Arizona on Saturday, Feb. 22 in its final home meet of the season. The Cardinal and Wildcats will square-off at 3 p.m. PT at the Avery Aquatic Center.
