• Stanford improves to 7-2 all-time against Purdue with Tuesday’s 86-69 win.
• Stanford head coach Tara VanDerveer won her 899th career game, moving her to just one win away from becoming just the fifth women’s basketball head coach to reach 900 wins. Her career record after Saturday is now 899-204 (.815). Stanford next plays Florida Gulf Coast Wednesday at 2 p.m. PT.
• Stanford had five players score in double figures Tuesday for the first time since Dec. 22, 2012 at Tennessee. All five Stanford starters scored in double digits: Chiney Ogwumike (22), Amber Orrange (12), Sara James (12), Lili Thompson (11) and Mikaela Ruef (10).
• Stanford’s offense matched its season high with 86 points, also scoring that many against Cal Poly on Nov. 15. The Cardinal offense also posted season highs for field-goal percentage (61.7 percent), 3-point field-goal percentage (55.6 percent), free throws made (23), free-throw percentage (82.1 percent).
• Stanford’s defense matched its season best with nine steals (last accomplished at Texas on Nov. 23) and rebounds allowed (26, last accomplishing this at Boston College on Nov. 9), while setting season highs for blocks (six)
• Stanford committed a season-high 20 turnovers Tuesday.
• Freshmen Lili Thompson scored a season-high 11 points and went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line Tuesday. Fellow freshman Erica McCall set new season highs with nine points, eight rebounds and four blocks.
• Sara James posted season highs of 12 points, five field goals and 27 minutes played while making her first start of the season.
• Stanford’s four active freshman (Briana Roberson did not suit up Tuesday) combined to score 33 of Stanford’s 86 points Tuesday.
• Purdue’s KK Houser scored 20 points Tuesday, becoming just the second opposing player to score 20 against the Cardinal this season. Connecticut’s Bria Hartley scored 20 points against Stanford back on Nov. 11.
• Chiney Ogwumike upped her career scoring total to 1,920 points, keeping her in ninth place on the Stanford list, 21 points behind Kayla Pedersen, who is eighth with 1,941 points. Ogwumike also upped her career rebounding total to 1,188, keeping her fourth on Stanford’s all-time list, 38 behind older sister Nnemkadi Ogwumike’s third-place figure of 1,226.
