Stanford’s first ever triple crown winner, Alex Mayer had a spectacular final season on the Farm. Besides leading the Cardinal to its first ever team championship, Mayer captures both the singles and doubles titles in 1973, marking his second straight doubles title. The three-time All-American would go on to win doubles titles at Wimbledon and the French Open, reaching as high as seventh in the world rankings. One of the first stars developed on the Farm by coaching legend Dick Gould, Mayer was later enshrined in the College Tennis Hall of Fame. |
