| The father of the modern T-formation, Clark Shaughnessy joined Stanford in 1940 and immediately shocked college football with his announcement to revolutionize his offense. Skeptics abound, but Stanford proceeded to run the table going 10-0-0 that year including a 21-13 victory over Nebraska in the Rose Bowl. He was named college Coach of the Year for his efforts and within a decade’s time, most football programs had adopted his offense.
