March 27, 2013

STANFORD, Calif.- No. 49 Stanford posted its fourth straight victory on Wednesday afternoon, blanking Saint Mary's 7-0 at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

Stanford (7-5, 0-0 Pac-12), which collected its fourth shutout of the year, is navigating through a challenging stretch of four matches to be played over six days.

The Cardinal grabbed a 1-0 lead, sweeping all three doubles matches by identical 8-4 scores.

The contest was then quickly clinched on the back courts, beginning with Jamin Ball's 6-4, 6-1 victory at the No. 6 spot.

After Trey Strobel posted a 6-3, 6-4 triumph at the No. 5 position, Daniel Ho secured the victory with a 6-1, 6-3 decision over on court four.

The shutout remained intact once Nolan Paige outlasted Joakim Norstrom 7-6 (1), 6-7 (2), 1-0 (14-12) at the No. 2 spot.

The Cardinal next hosts the Southern California schools this weekend to close out a six-match homestand. No. 2 USC (17-2, 0-0 Pac-12), which has won the last four NCAA titles, visits The Farm on Friday, March 29, for a 1:30 p.m. match.

On Saturday, March 30, No. 4 UCLA (14-1, 0-0 Pac-12) will be Stanford's opponent during the first-ever televised match on the Pac-12 Networks. The doubles competition begins at 2:30 p.m., with the telecast joining in progress live at 4 p.m. and featuring singles matches on courts Nos. 1-3.
