EAST LOS ANGELES-- It was a night for the Stanford freshmen, as Drew Cosgarea won the 400 individual medley and David Nolan won the 100 back to keep Stanford in front with one day to go at the Pac-12 Championships. Nolan and classmate Jack Lane were also a part of the winning 400 medley team along with upperclassmen Curtis Lovelace and Aaron Wayne.

Stanford, winners of the last 30-straight titles, lead 623.5 over second place Cal's total of 544 and third place Arizona (382).

Cosgarea led a 1-2-3 sweep by the Cardinal in the 400 IM, winning with a time of 3:44.97 ahead of teammates Matt Thompson (3:45.64) and Bryan Offutt (3:46.56) as the Cardinal scored 67 points with four swimmers in the top-five. Showing the team's continuing depth, it was the third-straight year the Cardinal had won the 400 IM as Cosgarea beat last year's winner, Thompson. Bobby Bollier won in 2010.

Nolan followed four events later with the fourth-fastest time in school history at 45.76 to win the 100 back. It was one of three Cardinal swimmers in the top flight. It was Nolan's second win of the championship, following a title in the 200 IM last night.

Stanford closed out the night with Nolan leading off the winning 400 medley team, leading wire to wire to a time of 3:07.32 ahead of Cal's veteran team at 3:07.70.

In the 200 free, Rob Andrews was second with a career-best (1:34.84) and Aaron Wayne was fourth (1:35.25) behind USC's Dimitri Colupaev (1:34.20) as Stanford built nearly a 100-point lead after the first two events.

With Taylor Sishc's second place showing, followed by fourth place Connor Kuremsky, sixth place Noah Garcia and ninth place Dhruv Tyagi in the 3-meter at last week's diving championships, the Cardinal scored 54 points adding to its Friday total and giving it a 72-point lead into the 400 medley relay.

The Championships run through Saturday.
