STANFORD, Calif. - No. 3-ranked Stanford (7-1) closed out its two-day Southern California swing by defeating No. 5-ranked USC (3-3) 175-118 following nine wins on Saturday afternoon.
Chad La Tourette swept the 500 and 1650 free styles.
La Tourette opened up the individual portion of the meet with a 1-2-3 sweep in the longest event (15:10.29), while he added the finishing touches on the dual win with a time of 4:25.81.
Stanford also benefited from the top dual time in two events, the 200 fly and 200 breast.
Tom Shields of Cal won the 200 fly, but Bollier score the nine necessary dual points followed by senior teammate David Mosko. Bollier lost to Shields by .05 seconds as Shields led the field with a time of 1:45.39. Curtis Lovelacewas also the top dual finisher in the 200 breast, finishing second to Cal's Martin Liivamagi (2:01.25) with a time of 2:01.28.
Stanford had the top two times in the 50 free led by Aaron Wayne (19.78) and Geoff Cheah(20.22). Wayne was also second in the 100 free.
Freshman Jon Edwards was a winner in the 400 IM, at that point an exhibition, while David Nolan (100 fly) and Matthew Swanston(100 back) also picked up victories.
Stanford closes out the dual season with Cal on February 18. Championship season begins after that. Ipsen and Stanford graduate Cassidy Krugwill head to the World Cup in London from February 20 to 26. The Pac-12 Diving Championships will begin on February 22, while the men's four-day Pac-12 Championships begin on February 29. Zone qualifying for the NCAA Diving Championships starts March 8, while the men's NCAA Championships begin March 22.
