Final Stats

LOS ANGELES - Stanford senior Samantha Woodward set meet and pool records to lead the Cardinal past UCLA, 164-134, in a Pac-12 Conference women's swimming dual meet on Friday.

Woodward set a Spieker Aquatics Center mark in winning the 50-yard freestyle in a meet record of 22.67 seconds. It was one of two victories for Woodward, who also won the 100 butterfly (53.92).

Teammate Andi Murez, a junior, set a pool record in the 100 free, winning in 49.58.

In all, Stanford (7-1) set three meet records in beating the Bruins in a dual for the sixth consecutive year. In addition to Woodward's 50 free, Cardinal sophomore Felicia Lee won the 200 backstroke in 1:57.67, and sophomore Andie Taylor won the 400 individual medley in 2:02.20. All the record times achieved NCAA `B' standards.

UCLA (2-3) took the team lead on the first event, the 200 medley relay, but victories by Natalie Durant (10:01.72) in the 1,000 free and Taylor vaulted Stanford to a 33-22 lead after three events that it would not relinquish.

Stephanie Phipps swept the diving events, capturing the 3-meter with 285.23 points and the 1-meter with 279.53.

Taylor joined Woodward and Phipps as double winners, with a 500 free victory (4:51.71) to go with her 400 IM triumph.

Stanford continues its Southland swing on Saturday when the Cardinal travels to USC for a noon meet.
