STANFORD, Calif.-- No. 3-ranked Stanford (6-0) easily took care of winless Arizona State (0-6) on a cool Friday afternoon as the team's freshmen did the heavy lifting winning 12 of the 13 events en route to a 160-71 win. Stanford posted wins in all 13 events.

Freshmen Kristian Ipsen, Jon Edwards, Robert Hommel and David Nolan each had two wins a piece. Edwards and Nolan were also a part of the winning 400 medley relay team to begin the day.

Edwards won his first individual event of the day, the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:50.96. Edwards kept the freshman streak alive late in the meet, winning the the 200 back after edging senior Eirik Ravnan (1:48.72) with a time of 1:48.67.

Nolan closed out the individual portion of the schedule with an easy win in the 200 breast, at 1:59.35. In the splash and dash, Nolan and sophomore Jake Hartley tied with a time of 21.06 in the 50 freestyle.

Ipsen won his seventh and eighth collegiate diving events of his career, winning the 3-meter with  a score of 437.48 and the 1-meter soon after at 417.90.

Hommel took home the title in the 200 free, taking over the lead at the halfway point to win with a time of 1:39.67 over classmate Ethan Hallowell. Hallowell later won the 100 free with a time of 46.67. Hommel also won the 500 free.

The day began with the 400 medley relay, as Stanford's all freshman relay squad, led from the start en route to a time of 3:17.64. Edwards gave Nolan a three second advantage after the first 100 yards, as the freshmen foursome never looked back, finishing five seconds in front of another Cardinal relay team (3:22.43) and eight seconds ahead of ASU's top team (3:25.67).

With wins in each of the first 12 events, the Cardinal freshmen were unable to post a clean sweep. The final freshmen relay team led at the half way point, but could not hold on as Stanford's Mack Montgomery, a junior, took the lead from Ben Holston and the older Cardinal relay team prevailed (3:07.05).

In a top-three battle on Saturday, No. 1-ranked Arizona takes on No. 3-ranked Stanford at an earlier than announced 11 a.m start time.
