Hostages Holds Utes and Cougars in Check to Win Seventh Straight

PROVO, Utah-- Stanford's Meg Hostage continued a stellar 2011, winning her seventh-straight diving competition, the three-meter (319.05) in a tri-meet with Utah and host Brigham Young.

Dhruv Tyagi finished second in the one-meter (336.15) and Brent Eichenseer finished second in the three-meter (363.35), as the men's divers finished second through fifth in each of their two events.

For Hostage, January's Pac-10 Diver of the Month, the senior now has won seven-straight events heading into tomorrow's final dual meet finale at Cal at noon. Overall in the first two months of 2011, Hostage has won nine of 12 events.

Tyagi and Eichenseer traded spots on the men's side. Eichenseer finished third (325.80) behind Tyagi (336.15) and BYU's Brandon Watson (372.20) in the one-meter; and Watson (409.50), Eichenseer (363.35) and Tyagi (354.65) finished in the top-three in the three-meter.

The top female diver in the one meter was freshman Jill Fisher (246.50), who was fifth. Fellow freshman Stephanie Phipps was third in the three-meter (290.20) behind Hostage and BYU's Dayna Christensen (310.25).

The Stanford men close out its season at Cal on February 19. The Stanford men are ranked No. 2 nationally and the women are No. 1. The Pac-10 Diving Championships are February 23-26 in Federal Way, Wash., along with the women's championships. The men's conference championships, in Long Beach, begin a week later.
