Tempe, Ariz. - No. 25 Stanford women's golf remained in 10th place after the second day of the PING/ASU Invitational from the Karsten ASU Golf Course. Mari Chun led the Cardinal with a round of 74 to remain in a tie for eighth place.
The Cardinal shot a round of 20-over-par 308 to remain in 10th place. Their two day total puts them at 34-over-par 610 for the tournament. The host school, No. 2 Arizona State took over the lead with a round 3-over-par 291 for a two day total of 9-over-par 585. No. 12 Purdue fell to second place with a two-round total of 14-over-par 590, while No. 5 Oklahoma State climbed to third with a score of 16-over-par 592.
Chun finished with two birdies and four bogies for her round of 74. She enters the final round at 3-over-par 147 in five way tie for eighth. Lizette Salas of USC took over the lead with a round of 6-under-par 66. She holds a two stroke lead over Maria Hernandez of Purdue with a two-day total of 5-under-par 139.
Sydney Burlison also continued a strong tournament with a round of 5-over-par 77 to sit in a tie for 17th. Burlison enters the final round with a two-day total of 6-over-par 150.
Angela King sits in a tie for 54th with a two-day total of 12-over-par 156. On Saturday King fired a second consecutive round of 6-over-par 78.
Rounding out the Stanford squad was Lila Barton and Rebecca Durham. Barton finished with a round of 7-over-par 79 for a tie for 63rd, while Durham played a round of 9-over-par 81 to finish in a tie for 69th.
The Cardinal will be back on the course on Sunday for the final round of the PING/ASU Invitational. Stanford will look to move up the leaderboard led by Chun who is looking for her fourth top-10 of the season.
