Burlison Leads Stanford In Round Two

Franklin, Tenn. -Stanford improved its play during the second round of the Mason Rudolph Women's Championship on Saturday to move up one spot to 16th with one round yet to be played. The Cardinal shot a second round team score of 9-over-par 297, which was 16-stroke improvement over Friday's round.

Stanford two-round total of 34-over-par 610 leaves them well behind the leader, UCLA, who enters the final round with a two-day total of 14-under-par 562. The big movers on Saturday were Oklahoma State (8-under-par 568) and Vanderbilt (4-under-par 572) who leapt into second and third place, respectively.

Stanford freshman Sydney Burlison led the way for the Cardinal on Saturday with a 1-under-par round of 71. It was her first round under par as a collegiate and moved her into a tie for 31st. The highlight of the round for Burlison came on the 15th hole when she holed out her second shot for an eagle.

Also playing well for Stanford on Saturday was Rebecca Durham who shot a 2-over-par round of 74. Her two-day total of 10-over-par 154 puts her in a tie for 62nd.

Shooting rounds of 4-over-par 76 on Saturday were Lila Barton and Mari Chun. Barton shot her second straight 76 to give her a two-day total of 8-over-par 152, which puts her in a tie for 52nd. Chun now has a two-day total of 12-over-par 156 and is tied for 70th.

Rounding out the Stanford golfers was Ki-Shui Liao who shot a second-round of 17-over-par 89 and is tied for 88th with a two-day total of 25-over-par 169.

Megan Grehen of Vanderbilt tied the course record with a round of 7-under-par 65 to climb into the individual lead with a two-day total of 8-under-par 136. She holds the slimmest of margins over Candace Schepperle of Auburn who entered the day tied for the lead, but now sits one stroke back with a two-day total of 7-under-par 137.

The final round of the Mason Rudolph Women's Championship will take place tomorrow, Sunday Sept. 28 at the South Course of the Vanderbilt Legends Club. The Cardinal will look to continue to climb up the leader board as they conclude their first tournament of the season.
