WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - The Cardinal closed out day two of the Sherwood Cup with three wins in singles consolation and a bye to the second round of doubles competition today in Westlake Village, Calif.
Stanford had four teams compete in doubles, but came up empty in three matches, Ted Kelly/Blake Muller received a bye into the quarterfinal round and will play against USC's Jason McNaughton/Jack Levis tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
In singles consolation action, Stanford tallied three wins out of six matches. Ted Kelly defeated USC's Andrew Piotrowski 7-6, 6-4, Blake Muller defeated Baylor's David Galic 6-2, 6-3, and Richard Wire handily defeated Pepperdine's Brian Brogan 6-1, 6-2.
The Cardinal will be back in action in more single consolation matches and in doubles on Sunday for the third day of the Sherwood Cup.
