Brian Favat serves as the Executive Associate Athletics Director and Director of Finance for Stanford’s Department of Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation.

In this role, Favat oversees the department’s financial operations and is a member of its Executive Team. He serves as the primary advisor to both the Deputy Athletics Director/Chief Operating Officer and the Athletics Director on the financial implications of operational, capital, and strategic initiatives. His purview includes Stanford’s 36 varsity sports, campus Recreation & Wellness - including the Stanford Red Barn Equestrian Center and the Stanford Campus Recreation Association - the Stanford Golf Course, and summer camp operations. Favat has previously served as the sport administrator for seven of the department’s 36 varsity sports. He also oversees business operations, travel services and information technology for the department.

He joined Stanford in March 2015 as Director of Ticketing Systems and Data Management. In 2016, he was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Business Strategy & Ticket Operations. He advanced to Associate Athletics Director for Business Strategy & Ticket Operations in September 2018, and in March 2019 was named Associate Athletics Director for Finance & Business Operations.

Favat served as a member of the NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Committee from 2022-2025, including as Committee Chairman for the 2024 and 2025 National Championships. He has also served as an adjunct professor in the Menlo College Sports Management program, where he taught undergraduate courses in Sport Finance and Introduction to Sports Management.

Before joining Stanford, Favat spent several years as a technology consultant at Infosys Consulting, where he specialized in delivering technology solutions to clients in the financial services and insurance sectors. He began his professional career at Morgan Stanley as a program manager in the Enterprise Data Group, which focused on leveraging data to improve decision-making and business performance across multiple divisions, including sales & trading, investment banking and wealth management.

A native of Gibbsboro, New Jersey, Favat is a graduate of Boston College and earned a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management in 2010. He and his wife, Megan, have three daughters: Vivian, Audrey, and the late Marien.
