Stanford football will unveil its 2003 squad on Saturday in the annual Cardinal-White Spring Game at Stanford Stadium, then watch ESPN to find out how its former players fared in the NFL Draft, which will be held April 26-27 in New York.
The Cardinal, which began spring ball on April 2, concludes its 15-practice schedule with the Spring Game on April 26. The game, slated to begin at 1:00 pm, will last approximately one hour. Other events throughout the day include a Kids Clinic at 11:00 am, to be held on the Football Practice Fields, a Football Fan Fest at Stanford Stadium beginning at 12:10 pm and an autograph session with Cardinal football players following the game at 2:00 pm.
As for the NFL Draft, Stanford could match last year's draft that set a school record with six players selected in the first seven rounds. The Draft can be seen on ESPN, Saturday, April 26 from 9:00 am - 7:00 pm (PT) with the first three rounds. The following day on Sunday, April 27, rounds four-seven will be conducted. ESPN will carry the Draft from 8:00-2:30 pm (PT) and ESPN2 will broadcast live from 2:30-3:00 pm (PT).
Offensive tackle Kwame Harris is expected to be the first Stanford name called in the draft. He has been tabbed as a probable first round pick. Others former Stanford players who are expected to be chosen include safety Colin Branch, receiver Teyo Johnson and fullback Casey Moore. Defensive tackle Matt Leonard, running back Kerry Carter and offensive guard Greg Schindler are also possible draft picks while other former players could sign free agent contracts after the draft.
